Fashion Resort 2009
The Spring summer season is synonymous with flowers. Roses, sunflowers, tulips, peonies. They look beautiful not only in your garden; the bright, cute, feminine flowers look great on your dresses and accessories as well.
With the spring summer season on the anvil, flowers are being resurrected in prints in a big way. Different types of prints are in vogue now. “Cabbage roses, tiny buds, huge prints of mixed flowers. You can select your print from an array of designs,” says fashion designer Anupama Dayal. From a single flower on a dress to wild, dense prints to scattered flowers, there are plenty of options to chose from.
While many designers believe in the mantra of ‘bigger the better’, when it comes to flowers on prints, you can also opt for the tiny petals or buds in prints which also look very cute. Keeping in mind the warm weather of the coming season, light weight fluid fabrics are ideal. “Chiffon, georgettes, tulles and organzas are some of the best suited fabrics for floral prints. They lend a summery look to your attire which is both feminine and sweet,” says Anupama.
This season, it is in fashion to opt for the brightest of shades. The colours are very bold right now and there is a new, brave mood. Orange, green, crimson, yellow mix and match your clothes and wear the bright colours with élan. “Long maxi dresses, mid calf tunics and full length skirts look great in floral prints. For a trendier look, wear a cropped trouser in floral print and team it up with a halter in lime green or lemon yellow or any other bright shade,:” For the avant-grade, play with skirts and dresses in shorter hemlines which will make you look sexy.
